Economic Development

The Salina Town Board is proud of the economic development that continues to be taking hold in Salina. With Supervisor Mark Nicotra's call for a more business friendly Town, business owners are responding. Over the past year, businesses like EmPower Federal Credit Union (who relocated their corporate headquarters to the former BG Suzle plant in North Syracuse) have opened in the Town of Salina.

In addition, Southern Wine and Spirits (the nation’s largest wine and spirits distributor) in Lyncourt, is under going a 200,000 square foot expansion to their facility that opened in 2008. Pacific Health Club (the former Bresee Chevrolet on Old Liverpool Road) opened its doors in August of 2013. Pacific Health Club is a 90,000 square foot premiere health club offering amenities such as a rock climbing wall, indoor track and an MMA training center.

In Mattydale, Byrne Dairy has replaced its store on Brewerton Road with a brand new facility. The new facility includes more gas pumps and a larger store with increased offerings. Also, the former Northern Lights Mobil (which had sat vacant for a number of months) has been redeveloped into an Express Mart/Dunkin’ Donuts. Recently, there have been plans brought to Salina’s Planning Board to build a hotel in Northern Lights Plaza where the Cinema North is located. Stay tuned for details on that project. Also, construction is underway for a Dunkin’ Donuts on Teall Avenue in Lyncourt. The Dunkin’ Donuts will replace the car wash and Cap’s Cue Club.

The Sisters of St. Francis of the Newman Communities have their Franciscan Villa project underway on Buckley Road in North Syracuse. The new building will house 96 residents, who will include sisters from the St. Anthony and Jolenta convents, among others.

Supervisor Mark Nicotra says, "With our business friendly attitude and the investment we are making in our infrastructure, Salina continues to be open for business."
