Trash and Recycling Information

Superior Waste Removal collects household garbage, recyclables and yard waste weekly. New residents should contact the Supervisor�s Office either by phone (315)457-6661 or e-mail supervisor@salina.ny.us for information concerning service schedules.

TRASH

Household Garbage: (with recyclables removed) should be placed at the curb in metal or plastic containers no earlier than 5:00 p.m. on the day before pickup: you can also use securely tied plastic bags. NO construction bags please.

White Goods: Salina provides year- round removal of washers, dryers, stoves, refrigerators, freezers, hot water tanks, bathtubs, toilets and sinks.

Bulky Items: Furniture, mattresses, box springs, rugs and carpets (rolled in bundles no more than four feet in length) may be placed at the curb. Please do not place more than one item out per week.

Excluded Items: Items such as tires, batteries, auto parts, televisions, electronics and construction materials along with any wood scraps (including broken up furniture) will not be picked up at the curb. They can be taken to Ley Creek Transfer Station located on Seventh North Street. RECYCLING

Each residence should have 2 blue bins: 1 for glass and plastic and 1 for paper products. Blue bins are available in the Town Clerk's Office, located in the Salina Town Hall at 201 School Road in Liverpool (open 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.). Blue bins are also available through the Salina Highway Department, located at 601 Factory Avenue (open between 7:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. and reached at 455-5525). YARD WASTE MAINTENANCE

The Town of Salina contracts with Superior Waste Removal to pick-up yard waste.

Yard waste (grass clippings, trimmings from small bushes, weeds) will be picked - up on your regular trash pick-up day. This material must be put into open garbage containers with the following specifications.

Brush, tree branches, trimmings and shrubbery up to 3 inches in diameter can either be tied into bundles, not to exceed 3 feet in length, 2 feet in diameter and 50 pounds each or put in to open garbage containers with the same size and weight requirements. If you have any questions, please call Superior Waste at (315) 672-3174. Plastic bags may not be used. Dirt and Rocks are NOT accepted in yard waste pickup.

Grass and Weeds: Residents are reminded that grass and weeds must be kept shorter than 10" during the growing season

Christmas Trees will be picked up the first full week of January and end on the FRIDAY of the last full week of January on your scheduled collection day. Do not bag or cut discarded Christmas Trees. ALL decorations, lighting and tree stands must be removed prior to disposal.

If one of these holidays fall on or before your pick-up day, pick-up will be one day late. For example, if New Year's Day falls on Thursday, regular Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday customers are picked up on schedule, whereas customers scheduled for pick-ups on Thursday and Friday are delayed one day.
